LISA HOOEY
FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER
Lisa founded Freda to bridge her passion for entrepreneurship along with her experiences working with world-class companies and CEOs.
Prior to founding Freda, Lisa worked at Scotiabank where she held roles in Corporate Banking and Global Loan Syndications, helping middle-market and corporate companies grow by raising capital to support their unique financing needs. She also spent time managing various process efficiency improvement projects in the operations department while overseeing back office functions. Before Scotiabank, Lisa worked as an operator at the Target Corporation where she supported their groundbreaking expansion into Canada. Lisa obtained her MBA from Queen’s University and has a BCom from Ryerson University with a double major in Marketing and Finance.
Lisa is an avid athlete, former competitive volleyball player and travel enthusiast, having visited more than 40 countries to date. Lisa is passionate about giving back and volunteering in the community.

Lisa is the first woman in Canada to independently raise and lead a traditional search fund, so it was important to her to acknowledge this milestone in the name. 'Freda' serves as a tribute to her late grandmother, one of the most formidable and inspirational women in her life.
Through Freda Capital, Lisa aspires to embody her grandmother's resiliency, strength, and leadership, as well as carry on her legacy—just as she will personally commit herself to carrying on the legacy of the acquired business.
